Our Units

The Office of the Associate Vice President for Academic Health Sciences provides leadership for these five centers, programs and services that help advance the mission of interprofessional education in the health professions.

The student focused Center for Health Interprofessional Programs (CHIP) serves students in the six health professional schools and colleges and allied health programs in the health sciences. It provides structure and support for co-curricular programmatic initiatives that enhance the aims of interprofessional education such as interprofessional local and national case competitions and 7 interprofessional student groups.

The Pre-Health Student Resource Center works with individuals who are not currently in a health sciences program, but are interested in pursuing admittance to a health sciences program. Prospective students could be University of Minnesota undergraduate students, transfer or high school students. The center offers exploratory course work, counseling, pathway advising and outreach events for prospective students.

The Center for Interprofessional Health is the home for advancing health sciences interprofessional education and clinical training at the University of Minnesota. Its mission is to spark innovation in interprofessional education, practice, research, and collaboration. CIH also supports the diverse needs of health professions schools, colleges, and programs system-wide in preparing a collaborative, practice-ready workforce to serve Minnesota and beyond.

The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education is a unique public-private partnership charged by its funders to provide the leadership, evidence and resources needed to guide the nation on the use of interprofessional education and collaborative practice as a way to enhance the experience of health care, improve population health and reduce the overall cost of care. They do this by aligning interprofessional education and collaborative practice (the “new IPE”) with transforming health care delivery.
