Minnesota PrimAry Care Team (IMPACT)
The University of Minnesota’s residency programs in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine as well as the combined program in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, in collaboration with the School of Nursing, School of Social Work, and the College of Pharmacy, have developed the Interprofessional Minnesota PrimAry Care Team (IMPACT) as a result of the Primary Care Faculty Development Initiative (PCFDI).
The mission of IMPACT is to promote and strengthen an interprofessional patient-centered primary care workforce for the state of Minnesota. Initial efforts have been focused on piloting faculty development around teaching and assessing residents in patient-centered interviewing, and on the development of an inter-professional and interdisciplinary curriculum for residents and health professional learners on the fundamentals of Patient Centered Health Care Homes.
To promote and strengthen an interprofessional patient-centered primary care workforce for the state of Minnesota.
- We aim to teach best practices to our interprofessional trainees that will advance the Quadruple Aim.
- Through practice-based research, quality improvement, and dissemination of proven practices, we aim to be a national leader in interprofessional primary care education..
- Aligned with the goals of the University of Minnesota, we aspire to encourage and advance our trainees’ interest in primary care throughout their training.
Essentials of Ambulatory Care (EAC) Workshop
The Essentials of Ambulatory Care (EAC) is a half-day virtual workshop bringing together trainees in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Ambulatory Pharmacy, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs to focus on the fundamentals of outpatient care using interprofessional, collaborative teams. The workshop is designed to teach the principles of teamwork, systems thinking, the patient-centered healthcare home, and patient-centered communication. The workshop engages learners in interactive learning including role-play, practicing a team huddle, and small and large group discussions.
*Please note this learning experience is intended for resident-level learners.
Registration: trainees are assigned by their program director to attend a workshop based on rotation schedules within their programs.
